It’s Pointless to Say God Doesn’t Lie if You Don’t Think He Speaks

There are some who don’t think that the Bible contains thoughts from God.  However, in two passages of the New Testament (Titus 1:1-3 and Hebrews 6:17-18) we have the author(s) declaring emphatically that “God cannot lie.”  This declaration is made in the context – and this applies to both cases – of promises God made which were recorded in the Old Testament.

Unless those promises were actually made by God, it would have been irrelevant to claim that God can’t lie.  By definition, if you never speak you could never have lied.  Thus we have yet another attestation that God speaks.
